A campaign promise like no other

The mayor of Moscow, Yury Luzhkov, is promising to prevent it from snowing in Moscow this winter. I wonder what two-term mayor Michael Bloomberg will come up with for NYC to top that as a campaign promise?

(As crazy as it sound, Moscow already spends millions each year to have the Air Force seed clouds around the city to prevent rain during the annual Victory Day and City Day parades. The hope with this new cloud-seeding plan is that the snowfall will occur in the country and leave the city relatively snow-free.)

A nobel laugh

Not to be outdone by the Nobel Prize Committee, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has just announced that President Barack Obama will be eligible in every category for next years Emmy Awards. This is in response to his many hours of ‘service’ on prime time TV. Apparently without him, the networks would have had to schedule another eight shows staring Regis Philbin each week.

You can do little but laugh at the thought that Obama was awarded a Nobel Prize basically just for being elected president (as well as for not being George W. Bush). There once was a time when the prize was awarded for past actions, not future potential.

Congressional hearing, one silly topic

The House Energy and Commerce Committee has stated that it will hold a hearing regarding a pair of NFL players whose suspensions have been blocked by a federal court.

What is the House Energy Committee doing getting involved in the NFL and the usage of performance enhancing drugs (or any other drugs for that matter) by professional athletes?

Are these players running on giant hamster wheels generating electricity for the national power grid!?!

  • Why I Am Here

I’ve tried to be just an ordinary citizen with dreams of living the surfer lifestyle, yet the politicians in America keep screwing things up. So rather than keep putting up with it, I'm here blogging about the problems and potential solutions as well. I desire to see the country rebound and continue on for future generations as the most admired and dominant economic, political, and military force in the world.
