Wikileaks is a form of terrorism, not freedom

IMG_4739

Wikileaks should not be not protected by the First Amendment. Nor do I think it is legally. My viewpoint on this matter is not likely to be very popular with my fellow journalists. All are free to try and change my opinion, however, I do feel strongly about this.

I fully support the concept of freedom of the press. However, at the same time, there must be a limit to those freedoms as well. Acquiring and releasing classified and/or secret documents without prior approval is a violation of the law. And in some situations, it can even be deemed to be treason

Wikileaks should not be afforded First Amendment rights in this situation. Nor should the media outlets which are filing stories and reprinting portions of the leaked information. At least not in regard to this matter. (continue reading…)

Best of the Year … 2010 Census

Here we are in 2011 and I figured I’d close the door on 2010 by listing the most often viewed postings on here from the previous year.

1. Defending the price of adventure (Yes, a posting about an outdoor sport was the most viewed on a political blog. By nearly a 3-to-1 margin thanks to a link from NBC Sports.)
2. To build or not to build (My take on the Muslim mosque planned near Ground Zero in NYC.)
3. Fireworks, fireworks & more fireworks (Reprint of an old blog posting I did years ago on places to spend July 4th holiday. It still gets discovered via Google on a regular basis.)
4. Why we are a great nation (A big thanks to Craig Ferguson for not asking me to remove this.)
5. International obligations add up (The follow up to my popular posting about Abby Sunderland’s misadventures at sea in a sailboat.)

Rounding out the Top 10 are 6. Chi! Chi! Chi! Le! Le! Le! (Still being discovered every week via a Google search proving the Chilean miners rescue are still topical), 7. Making God liable for everything, 8. When private becomes public, 9. One long wave … One short mast, and 10. Felonies and politics … part one.

As far as what I have planned for 2011 here on the web, well, only time will tell. I have many thoughts to put to paper but am not making any promises as to what is upcoming. You’ll just have to return and find out for yourself. It goes without saying, but I am saying it anyway, thank you very much for taking the time to read this blog. And have a wonderful 2011.

  • Why I Am Here

I’ve tried to be just an ordinary citizen with dreams of living the surfer lifestyle, yet the politicians in America keep screwing things up. So rather than keep putting up with it, I'm here blogging about the problems and potential solutions as well. I desire to see the country rebound and continue on for future generations as the most admired and dominant economic, political, and military force in the world.
